Sunny day by Emile Claus (1849-1924)

This is a painting of Emile Claus from 1899. It’s called a sunny day. Emile Claus was a Belgian painter, who became thé luminist painter of his time in Belgium. I really love the way he painted the light and shade in this painting. All the colours seem to be in some grey-like shade, but if you look closer there is blue, pink, green etc. in every shape.

It is not surprising that he called his house ‘Villa Sunshine’ at the river De Leije.
